Tukiji, Ginza in Tokyo

Image
Tokyo part 1. On Saturday we went to Tukiji and Ginza. We arrived at Ginza around lunch time. We had lunch at a old sushi place. (open since the 13th Taisho period) http://www.tamasushi.co.jp/store/taroki/index.html We walked to Tukiji. Tukiji is the biggest fish market in Tokyo. There are many different kind of shops such as fish ,fruits, knives shops... and of course shops to eat too, sushi, sashimi, ramen-noodle...... The place is so famous that it is always busy. It will close at about 2-3pm. Then, we had afternoon tea at  Ginza Mitsukoshi department store. The tea room has a French name. It was cute and nice sitting down by the window  so we could see the street. We had cafe glace, cake and sorbet. We paid over 5000yen and they left the pips in the raspberry coulis in the cake. wow that's bad...........At that price you don't want to see pips in the cake. Ritz hotel Paris prices, taste, but not quality........Giorgio said. ...

Finally, we are in Japan. We flew air New Zealand, it took about 14hours from Christchurch to Tokyo Narita airport. Travelling on the airplane used to be funny, but lately I feel 14hours are too long.... This time, the service and the food in the plane wasn't too bad. I usually take Japanese meal. I think it is better than the western meal. The plane was the latest model with new touch view panel and only 2seats by the window. breakfast chicken sausage dinner NewZealand lamb breakfast Japanese teriyaki-salmon

A little lunch

We had a little lunch party for the farewell of our friend Bono. We are going to Japan and Bono is going to Switzerland. We had some Italian salami and cheese biscuits for entree, and Giorgio's  Wurst und Kaese S alat with ciabiatta bread. Bono made a tarte tatin for dessert. Lucky me !!! both are professional chef. Since we had an earthquake, there are not many restaurants left open in the city centre, so we don't often go out any more. We sometimes have a nice lunch together at Bono's house or our house, and the food is always wow !!!.....  I must be the luckiest person in the world. We had a really nice time as usual.

to JAPAN for a while

We have decided to go to JAPAN for a while.......... It was a sudden decision. The situation here, hasn't changed much and it is hard to make a decision at the moment. So, we will refresh ourselves in JAPAN. When we come back to New Zealand, we hope the situation will have changed in a good way or we will find a good idea for the future.
